About me

Looking for a professional proofreader? You’re in the right place.

I’m Helen and I have an excellent eye for detail and a passion for language and literature. Officially a bookworm since childhood, my obsession with reading, writing and grammar has only increased over the years. Previous experiences include a degree in English Literature, working as a bookseller and as assistant editor for a financial magazine. Most recently, I have spent 15 years as an upper Key Stage 2 teacher and English curriculum leader. As an English leader, I’ve had a wealth of experience with mentoring students and colleagues. Based in beautiful Kent, I enjoy nothing better than exploring the great outdoors.

I love to proofread a wide range of texts, but areas of particular interest are:

  • education

  • business publications (e.g. websites, user manuals, reports, proposals and press releases)

  • children’s books

  • history

  • heritage and museums

  • biographies, autobiographies and memoirs

  • wildlife, nature and conservation.

What do I bring to the table?

I will give my clients:

  • fair and transparent terms and conditions

  • a high level expertise gained through professional training and qualifications

  • professionalism through following the CIEP codes of practice.

I have completed proofreading training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and the Publishing Training Centre (PTC). For more details, please see my professional credentials.
